Cat Quilts

While I was home I did do a little stitching on my mom's old Viking machine. I made little Christmas cat quilts for my cousin's two cats, Monty and Mango (the banana fabric is for him). I can't believe I forgot to take a photo of the second one altogether! It was a free-pieced M surrounded by blue and white strips. I added some catnip in with the batting and the quilts were well tested by my cat, Flicka (who lives in Maine now with my mom), and my mom's cat, Lily, before they finally found their way to the Post Office.

Flicka is the one in the photo - a gorgeous ten-year-old calico who is part Maine Coon - and she received a pretty serious diagnosis while I was home, so I'm afraid it might have been the last time I will see her. I'm going to whip up a little catnip-filled quilt for her as soon as I can.

Supermom, email me and I'll give you my Auburn environs shopping tips.

great idea to add the catnip... I have two indoor cats, and a whole patch of catnip growing in my yard -- I may have to "borrow" your idea next fall when there's more catnip then I know what to do with ;-)

We adopted 2 cats from the streets. One is crazy about DH and follows him everywhere ... he cries when he leaves. I guess the other one is mine. I need to make them quilts. Sure hope Flicka will get better.

Would have never thought to put the catnip in the quilt. We had a Maine Coon - Dizzy - who was crazy for cn *s* Sorry to hear of difficult news for your kitty . . . hope things turn out more on the bright side for her.

Welcome home! The idea of putting catnip inside a quilt is a great one. My 2 love catnip, so I'll have to try that.

The bear paw looks great! Congrats!

And as for Flicka, I am so sorry she is ill. I hope you will see her again, but more important may she not suffer, and may you remember the wonderful life she has living. Hope you have a happy, healthy new Year.

Wow, a cat gets her own quilt. Pretty cat. I love cats, but I'm allergic to them.
