from Hedgehog Road to the Arctic Circle and back!

I've just had a friend visiting from the US and we covered about 1600 km from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and back to Vaasa via ferry from Umeå on the east coast of Sweden. Here are a few photo highlights, including Hedgehog Road (one metro stop from the Marimekko Factory Store - more on that in another post), Santa's Post Office on the Arctic Circle, on snowmobile safari near Rovaniemi, and visiting the the Gammelstad Church Town near Luleå.

Finally, a little knitting I did on the way and some yarn I picked up in Umeå.

Another post about the fabric purchases coming soon!

silly question but why are the signs at the Post Office in English and not Finnish? It looks cute. Your socks are great!

Santa's Post Office is certainly a tourist mecca! I like the Post Office, but the rest of Santa's world is a bit much for me!

Love seeing your travel photos, and your fabulous socks. I had to wipe the drool off the keyboard once I got to your yarn purchases ;)

Snowmobile Safari sounds fun. Not to sure what to make of Santa's post office. Bit too commercialised for me.

When are we going to see some quilting!

Your photos are beautiful. I love the red buildings against the snow. i've been to Sweden and Norway in the summer and loved the red against green too. Such a gorgeous part of the world! I can't believe there's actually a Hedgehog Road -- too cute!
