Since I'm quite sure that my soon-to-be 6-year-old friend doesn't read my blog, I can post more than a sneak peek of this birthday gift. Lots of detail photos here to make up for all my teasing recently! I had a free drawstring backpack from a breast cancer organization in Florida that I used as a template for this bag and I ended up using the ropes from that bag in this one since I didn't find anything suitable in town this week. I used Tonya's letters and there's also another inset zipper pocket using this great tutorial on the outside of the bag. The outer layer is quilted with a layer of cotton batting, the inside is a single layer of cotton fabrics. I'm hoping to find time tomorrow to make a little something to hide inside the bag.

that bag's sure to be a hit! I love the fabric strips you used :-)
Wow - you are very talented to have worked this all out - zippers care me a little (okay, a lot *s*) Max is gonna love it!
What a great gift--I'm sure Max will love it!
How cute is this? Love the zipper and the letters.
Very fun bag! I love his name and also the crossed fabrics in the back.
Cute idea !
great job, very fun
This is soooo cute! What a great idea to put piece his name on it! I love it. Aren't you smart that you named him "Max?" "Alexander" or "Sylvester" would have been too much work to piece!!!
This is a great bag, I am glad that this post is more than a sneak peak *LOL*
nice bag I am sure it will be loved.......
