Something (New?) Under the Sun

Sun, we have. Something new? Yes! My friend's quilt is finished in time for her departure tomorrow! Cute backing, huh? It's all washed and labeled and ready to go!

But is anything really new? We were inspired by Kaffe Fassett's Leafy Rosy (which my mom has 'ordered' from me - even sent me fabrics!), but the cool thing is that the same pattern was in a trilingual book about quilting in western Finland I picked up on sale at Loftet last weekend! (final photo below)

Boy, it's all about the fabric, isn't it? Yours is so sweet, the Fassett quilt is striking - the pattern really gets lost in the prints, and that's not a bad thing (though it could be.) And that last one looks perfectly country. And they all work.

The baby quilt is so pretty! I´m glad your friend finished it in time without your having to lock her in...

That baby quilt is a delight - amazing what having a deadline to work to can make us do :o)

I'm not a Kaffe fan - too flowery for me, but that is great.

I like the 9 patch in the bottom photo.

Thanks so much for your comment on my blog (and for reaffirming my color choices!). I am so excited to have gotten a blog comment from Finland. I enjoy your blog and love the little quilts you've made for swaps ... I just joined my first and love what I am making. I hope to have some updates to post soon ...
Thanks again!

What I love about Kaffe's books, even more than the quilts themselves, is how they are photographed. Having them "out and about" gives them life and energy that no "flat on the wall" view can generate.

LOVE your version!!!
