Posti Post

I was very slow to leave the house this morning. (My Friday classes don't begin until next week.) Luckily I was still home when the mail came, including a great little care package from a friend in South Carolina!

You can see the much-needed Shout Color Catchers and the not-so-much-needed, but very much appreciated, candy corn!! She also included vanilla - perfect timing since I'm going to make the Lingonberry Tea Cake again this weekend! For those who asked, I haven't found vanilla extract here in Finland - there is vanilla sugar and I'm sure I could figure out how to substitute, but when making things for others, I'd rather stick with what I know and this cake is too big for me to make for myself! I'll figure it out with another recipe.

Here are a few pictures of the fall colors around campus today. I was trying to wait for a sunny day, but it's been raining all week and I'm afraid the leaves will fall before I get to take sunny pictures!

I think that's what makes the leaves even more beautiful -- their ephemeral nature. Wait for the perfect picture and they're gone! If they waited around until that long, we wouldn't appreciate them as much.

Thanks for the beautiful pics of the leaves.

What a great care package! I loved the card, too. LOL You must try your candy corn with salted peanuts (It's like a Payday candy bar).

The fall pictures are beautiful. We don't have fall - here - Sigh! LOL

Hi-just found your blog, and I'm really enjoying it! And laughing about the Candy Corn...personally, I can't stand the stuff but, it's all over the place right now, as everyone is gearing up for Halloween. If you need more, let me know, because now is the time to buy!

Happy mail day! I sometimes have a hard time finding certain ingredients in Austria too, but then there are things that we can't in Canada that are very traditional in Austria! It seems like I always want one thing or another from a different country!

Cheers!

Aren't those Color Catchers amazing? My mother and I are also hooked on this product. It is harder and harder to find in Canada - only at one retailer and then not all stores. We have been picking up multiple boxes when we get to the U.S.

oooh candy corn is vile stuff. but I do love to look at it and I love it in fabric. Ooh, I'd be in trouble without real vanilla too! And color catchers are a necessity. I'm wondering how many boxes I should take with me to paris.
