Finally Something on the Quilting Front

It's been almost a week since I last sewed anything. Sunday evening I attached rounds four and five to my medallion project, but I wasn't happy with the corners on the flying geese round. Tonight I replaced them with these that echo the center. (The first ones were too busy.) The center is 24"x24" and now the whole thing is 45"x45". I'm aiming for approx. 90"x90". I have a sneaking suspicion that these rounds are going to take more and more time as they get larger and larger! Luckily I can use some of my 'reject' geese in the stars for another round!

Just before posting this, I noticed the upper right hand geese-row cornerstone is facing the wrong direction! Now I need to decide if I'm willing to rip this out again! Ack! I can look at it in the morning with 'fresh eyes'.

This is looking really good! I love those 'earthy' colors.

Good choice on the geese -- it looks terrific! And the "snafu" in the corner - ya gotta laugh! HATE when that happens! (I suspect you'll end up un-sewing a bit)

Oh, this is coming along brilliantly. As for the cornerstone, well, I probably wouldn't have spotted it if you hadn't pointed it out (and if it were mine I probably wouldn't unpick it either).

Isn't it amazing what we can "see" in a photograph that we can't see before our very eyes, in person? I wouldn't have noticed it either, but I probably wouldn't let it go as it. Could you tell yourself it's your Amish humility block? Naaaahhhhh.

It's really wonderful, Hedgie. Your work is meticulous, but your eye for color is even finer. Lovely.

Love how this is turning out. Even when you mentioned the 'error' I had to look several times to spot it. It would be cool if you could live with it, but if it will bother you for ever you better rip-it :)

I sure didn't notice the turned block, but them most of my quilts have them. If it won't make you crazy, just leave it ... it adds charm. It's looking great, can't wait to see what's next.

I can't see the oops--- leave it and call it 'Character...' It's a beautiful piece.

I love the colours and pattern. I personally would fix the turned block, its not that far into the project. If its worth doing then its worth doing right. I do have some quilts that I didn't notice a turned block until it was quilted and bound.......then its too late.
I really enjoy your blog esp the pics of your sightseeing.

Jen, that's beautiful. Obviously it's entirely up to you but I'd opt to leave the cornerstone alone.

Lovely. YOur work is stunning. It is a hard decision with the cornor block. I would be almost tempted to leave it.

Sorry my dear, but I vote you take it out and turn it. Only because it's right on the corner and therefore much more visible and noticible. If it were in the middle of a border somewhere it wouldn't be nearly as evident. Shouldn't take you all that long - just four little partial seams.

This is looking so great. Makes me think of the medallion I'm making. And you are very right - each round takes that much longer than the round before. I've still not started the next round on mine. It's really lots and lots of fun though isn't it!

Just amazing!!! A very good combnination of colours ... looks so fresh .... and you know! Only god is perfekt! I didn´t noticed it before you posted it!

i had to look twice to find where the mistake was. I'm not sure what i would do. If it's bothering you that much unpick it because it's close to the edge of the quilt and it wouldn't take much to fix.

I love it boo-boo and all!

It gets more lovely every time I see it!

It won't be too hard to fix the errant goose. (Easy for me to say!)

Ah, Hedgehog, this is a lovely quilt! And, yes, those round get more and more time consuming, don't they? There are a couple of quilts that I've made where the outer border took more time than the rest of the top. Blech.

It's really beautiful, and, frankly, I like the little "mistake"...I think it a great signature.

It is coming along great! If the block bothers you then fix it - if not then leave it along. I think it sort of makes the quilt interesting!

looks gorgeous. so leave that block alone - it looks fun and free. it's not hurting anything turned like that.

It is getting more and more beautiful by the round! I just love it!

It has been a few days since you posted this. Inquiring minds want to know if you switched that errant block around. Stuff like that is far easier to spot through the camera lens than up close---as you just found out.

Regardless of your decision, it looks fantastic, Jen!

I don't have a problem with the corner block at all, especially since there are so many hourglasses all over the top. Lovely piece!

It's looking great Jennie. I think I would have to fix the corner block.

Beautiful! I love the colors and design.

Beautiful. I like the way the colors seem to radiate out from the center star.

My advice on the corner stone is to take it out, or you will be sorry. It won't take long, honest. (I just ripped apart 12 pinwheel blocks that I made spin the wrong way, so I know!)

Beautiful quilt! Is it a pattern, or did you design it yourself! (Great, either way!!!!!)

I never would have noticed the incorrectly oriented block. But of course, you will always notice it! Isn't it irritating how you always notice it AFTER it's all sewed up?
