Anyone recognize the sequence of colors in the title of this post?
I tend to like making more monochromatic quilts (see here and here and here), but I think I have spring fever! I just love all these fabrics (mostly 30s repros and some Kaffe Fassetts, plus a few other things thrown in there) and this pattern really showcases them. I usually make such small blocks, but these are 10" finished.
Care to vote on the binding stripe (fabrics below)? I thought briefly of putting a row of striped sashing between the blocks, but I've decided against it. My baby quilts tend to get quite large - this one is just 30"x40" as it is. How big do other people make theirs? At a certain point, I might as well make the kids twin-sized quilts! I don't really intend these for cribs, but dream that these in-between crib/twin quilts will make good magic carpets, capes, picnic blankets, etc.
Below is another 1:30am photo from my window (exactly halfway between sunset and sunrise). No wonder I have spring fever! Notice there are leaves on the trees now. They even cut the grass yesterday at the university for the first time this year!

Hey. I love the sky in the picture from your apartment. It's pretty. My opinion for the stripe thing: I'd go with the one on the bottom. Good night :)
I vote for the bottom one too - on the bias!
Great flowers! The bottom one, definately!
Wow - you do get a lot of sunlight *s* Never past 8 p.m. here . . . even on the longest day.
I like the second fabric also.
How odd it would feel to have the light at that time of the morning. But it's so beautiful!
Well, I vote for the second or lower fabric for the binding. Love the quilt AND the photo is priceless. You are already into summer with that sunlight...huh?
Pretty colours - and definitely the bottom fabric.
I feel compelled to vote for the brighter striped fabric on the top. I am definitely in the minority. I usually make baby quilts about
40" X 52", or thereabouts. The sky is beautiful.. why are you up at 1:30 AM?
I am Marc, was on another computer and hadn't logged on as myself, sorry!
I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too!!!!
I sing that song to my daughter all the time :)
The second one. Definitely :)
the bottom one - & All of my quilts finsh when they are done - there is no magic size.
I love the top fabric, but it looks like the colours might be a little strong for the blocks. So my vote goes to the second fabric.
I usually make my donation quilts approx 40" x 50". With this size I don't need to seam backing fabric, can get 4 battings out of a purchased queen size and it makes a nice cuddle quilt size without being unmanageable for dragging around!!
Your quilt is going to be real pretty :)
I am voting for the bottom fabric, too. Your flowers are lovely, so spring-like!
We were in Stockholm last summer and I kept waking up in the middle of the night, confused about the time. I loved the long, long twilight, though.
Looks like you are having fun with those blocks, Jen!
Lovely scenery pic.
I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too.......
Love the flowers!
I think I would chose the tope fabric, but that is because I really like the binding to stand out. Either way it will be very pretty.
Aw... i learned that song in Girl Scout camp, along with the sign language that went with it. Unfortunately, don't remember that bit tho..
Too funny! I looked at your picture from 1:00 a.m and realized that you are not in the states. I then looked at your "about me" and THOUGHT it said Vaasa, FL...that's Florida. I looked back at the picture and thought "Man she has a great camera!" It took about 3 more looks to figure out that it wasn't Florida!!! I can be so dense at 12:00 a.m.!!!
I think the 'less bright' stripe would be the best. I'm liking your little flowers.
I can sing a rainbow...
Love how it looks so far, I like the top fabric.
