Red Hots!

I'm back from my conference and after nearly 10 hours total on the train, I have quite a few more hexagons to show for it! Everyone asked me what I was making - felt a little silly saying, 'I don't know!' Still not sure - it all depends on how many I make. Making the little hexagons is totally addictive - they are like little jelly beans I put into a bag, instead of taking out of a bag and popping into my mouth! I'm not quite as crazy about sewing the little guys together, but some parts of the process are always more fun than others. Since I'm sewing these by hand, I really feel like the project will have to be hand-quilted. That's something I've been meaning to learn, but am quite afraid of. In the meantime, I will just keep making these little red jelly beans. Or maybe I should call them red hots!

Below is a photo I took from my window at 1:30am this morning. The light here is really unbelievable. I just wish that the spring would stop teasing us and really explode!

I like the red hots - reminds me that I need to carry my EPP project... (You interested in a English e-bayer that has hedgie fabric?)

They do look fabulous! Be wary of handquilting over so many seams though. Not quite sure what you'd do with hexis!

Oh those look gorgeous! Don't forget to blog your progress on these - can't wait to see how the project ends up.

The more you do the more I love this! Don't be afraid of hand quilting - it's not that hard. It's like so many quilting processes - practice makes perfect! I love hand quilting - find it's really very meditative. I can hand quilt for hours and not realize how much time has gone by. I just wish the arthritis in my hands allowed me to do more.

Oh those hexagons are so fun! And I'm amazed at how light it is at 1:30am! I never really thought about that before!

I'm loving the hexagons in the red! The photo from your window is just stunning. How do you cope with the LONG hours of darkness in winter?

I do love hexagons...they drive my DH crazy since he has only seen me finish one project using them. It was a small doll quilt with 1/2 inch hexagons. I ended up tying it. The next will be hand quilted!

Love those hexagons - I have been taking mine out more and more lately. Maybe it's the weather - I'm getting out more, so I need a more portable project. Red Hots is the perfect name *s*
